What's Special About Us?

Our New “Easy-Learn” Teaching Method

Following a survey of our members’ opinions, we learned what we already suspected –  rather than being taught 4 new moves each week, people want to learn the steps that we teach - and that takes more than one lesson!

So we have introduced Modern Jive lessons in both beginner and improver classes which offer groups of moves (7 or 8) which are taught 3 or 4 at a time on one evening.  We then teach 2 of them again the next week and add on one new move and continue through the group until all the moves can be danced successfully.

We choose the moves carefully so that there is a good variety of different figures, hand holds, actions and movement.  In this way, moves can be remembered much more easily and any that you really like you can use whenever you freestyle – and if you like the whole group – you have a rather good-looking amalgamation to dance when you go out!!

That Personal Touch

Here at The Jive Club we have classes with numbers that allow us to know everyone by name, and we pride ourselves on being able to offer personal help and support to everyone to help them both with their dancing and their enjoyment of the evening.  We know that this approach is not possible with vast numbers in classes.

Medal Tests Through The I.D.T.A.

We are able to offer members the chance and take medals with the International Dance Teachers Association. This is a way for people to be able to improve their dancing and have something to show for what they have learned.

Private Lessons (Personal Tuition) and Mini Classes

If anyone wants to have private dance lessons to improve any aspect of their dancing, or maybe because they feel uncomfortable in a class situation, one-to-one tuition is available for people on their own, couples and up to 4 people. Mini classes (up to 12 people) can be accommodated.
